If you’ve ever wandered the cobbled streets of St Ives or visited the bustling farmers’ markets of Cornwall, you’ll know there’s something truly special about this corner of the world. From the salty sea air to the scent of freshly baked scones, it’s a place that’s steeped in tradition — and for me, it’s home. Welcome to The Littlest Baker.

I’m Emma, and I run The Littlest Baker from my cosy kitchen in Carbis Bay, just a stone’s throw from the harbour in St Ives. I’ve always believed that life’s sweetest moments deserve to be celebrated with something baked by hand and made with love. Whether it’s a buttercream-dripped birthday cake, a tray of homemade brownies for a family gathering, or a rustic wedding cake adorned with edible flowers, every bake I create has a little story behind it.

🍪 A Cornish Kitchen with a Story to Tell

Baking has always been part of my world. Growing up in a family of farmers, bakers and cooks in Cornwall meant our kitchen was constantly alive with the scent of something in the oven. My childhood memories are filled with afternoons spent fishing off the rocks with my Granda, followed by baking sessions with my Grans and Mum.

We made everything from traditional Hevva Cake to Ginger Fairings, Congress Tarts (which my Granny fondly called ‘Concrete Tarts’ after one particularly firm batch), and of course, the Victoria sponge — a recipe that still has pride of place in my kitchen. Those early years gave me a love for proper Cornish bakes, and that connection to family, community and fresh, local ingredients is something I carry through in everything I make today.

The Littlest Baker began with a family nickname — Emma pictured here with her Gran, the original inspiration behind the name.

🎂 Cakes for Every Celebration

At The Littlest Baker, no two cakes are the same. I don’t offer a set menu because I believe your celebration deserves something created just for you. Whether you’re planning a wedding by the sea, a birthday bash, a romantic anniversary, or a family holiday in St Ives, I’ll work with you to design a handcrafted cake that tastes every bit as good as it looks.

You’ll find everything from rich chocolate drip cakes and classic vanilla sponges with jam and Cornish clotted cream, to tangy lemon bakes, rustic naked cakes, and seasonal specials using the finest local ingredients. I’m proud to support fellow Cornish producers like Cornhill Farm Eggs, Trink Milk, Rodda’s Creamery, and Mounts Bay Dairy — because great baking starts with brilliant ingredients.

And while the flavours are important, it’s the finishing touches that people seem to love most. Wherever possible, I decorate my cakes with edible flowers, fresh fruits, and simple, natural decorations that let the bake speak for itself.
